Congratulations to our Room Décor contest winner Kathy Wang! This week, the Kenzo Decor team visited Kathy’s room to show you how you can spice up your space for only $20. Keep reading to find out how we did it.
Wall Tapestry

Kathy already had a beautiful tapestry hanging over her bed, but we wanted to make it more of a focal point in the room. To do this, we simply added a string of lights that drew your eye in. Something as easy as neatly making your bed and placing a pillow on top can make it appear cleaner and more visually appealing.
Lights: $3
Photo Wall

When you’re missing friends and family, adding pictures to your room can bring the comforts of home right to your university bedroom. Kathy already had a collection of pictures pinned onto her wall that we wanted to display in a more impactful way. By using string and mini clothespins, we covered her wall with these pictures. After tidying up the space on her shelf and adding a couple succulents, the wall was complete!
String: $1.50
Clothespins: 1.50
Plants: $7
Mirrors

Mirrors are a great way to make a room feel bigger and more open. We wanted to draw attention to Kathy’s so we framed it with another string of lights. Not only is it cute but it creates the perfect lighting for getting ready!

Clothing Rack & Wall Decor

Kathy already had a clothing rack in her room which is the perfect way to create extra storage space and add a pop of colour! We removed the excess hangers and filled the rack with neutral colours and a pop of yellow to bring in a fall colour. The empty wall by Kathy’s desk was bare and we thought it needed a little something to spice it up! We got a roll of chalkboard wallpaper that easily stuck to the wall. It’s perfect for writing notes that come to mind while you're studying, or add a calendar like we did to keep track of your upcoming events.
Blackboard: $4
With just $20 and a little organizing, Kathy’s room is now the perfect place for her to hit the books or relax after a long day of class. Send us your pictures of how you used these quick, easy and super inexpensive tips to spice up your room for a chance to be featured in an upcoming post!!
TOTAL: $20
